Test 60: Inadequate L-R Element Volume

Using scan tool, read and record clutch volume indexes. Clear DTCs following scan tool manufacturer's instructions. Drive vehicle and perform repeated shifts to allow TCM to learn clutch volumes. Continue driving until learning stabilizes. Read clutch volume indexes on scan tool display. If L-R clutch volume index is less than 17, 2-4 clutch volume index is less than 8 or OD clutch volume index is less than 16, overhaul transmission. See AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - 42LE article. If clutch volume indexes are not as specified, go to next step.
Using scan tool, record clutch volume indexes. Perform QUICK LEARN procedure. See SHIFT QUALITY QUICK-LEARN PROCEDURE under ADDITIONAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONS . Using scan tool, perform QUICK BATTERY DISCONNECT. If any clutch volume indexes are less than 5 or different than before performing QUICK BATTERY DISCONNECT, replace TCM. If clutch volume indexes did not change, conditions necessary to set DTC 60 are not present at this time.
