Test 104E - Inoperative Wiper Motor Low Speed
NOTE:
Perform TEST 104A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
- Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Ensure jumper wire is connected between terminal "D" (Red/Dark Blue wire) on ON/OFF (intermittent) wiper relay (relay No. 6) socket and terminal "E" (Brown/White wire) on HI/LO wiper relay (relay No. 10) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire) on wiper motor connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/White wire between HI/LO wiper relay and wiper motor. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 (Black wire) on wiper motor connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper motor.
