Test 104G - Wiper Switch Power Supply Short To Ground
NOTE:
Perform TEST 104F
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue wire) on multifunction switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire and replace fuse No. 10. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between component terminals "A" and "C" on HI/LO wiper relay. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace HI/LO wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between component terminals "A" and "C" on ON/OFF (intermittent) wiper relay. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace intermittent wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace multifunction switch and fuse No. 10.
