Test 69A - Faulty Speedometer

NOTE: Perform TEST 54A  , 55A or 57A before proceeding with this test. For connector ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. If speedometer operates, go to TEST 57A  . If speedometer does not operate, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select body systems tests. Select PCM monitor. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to TEST 114A  . If scan tool displays ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Start engine. If vehicle is equipped with traction control, turn traction control system off. On all vehicles, place gear shift lever in Drive. Go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, read Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal. If scan tool displays increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, replace body control module. If scan tool does not display increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, see TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
