Chime Inoperative At All Times
NOTE:
Perform CHIME TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure all doors are closed. Using scan tool, actuate chime. If chime does not sound, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Fig 1. If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, stop actuating chime. Turn ignition off. Remove key from ignition switch. Turn headlights on and open left front door. If chime does not sound, go to CHIME TEST 3A . If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Turn headlights off. Ensure left front seat belt is unfastened. Close left front door. Insert key in ignition switch. Turn ignition on. If chime does not sound, go to CHIME TEST 4A . If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Leave key in ignition switch. Open left front door. If chime does not sound, go to CHIME TEST 5A . If chime sounds, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Press any key on Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) and Automatic Temperature Control (ATC). If chime does not sound, go to CHIME TEST 6A . If chime sounds, system is currently operating properly.
