Updating Skim (Sentry Key Data)

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Go to THEFT ALARM, SKIM and then MISC menus on scan tool. Place SKIM in SECURED ACCESS MODE by using appropriate Personal Identification Number (PIN) for this vehicle. PIN may be obtained from the owner, vehicle's invoice, or from the manufacturer. Select UPDATE SECRET KEY DATA. Data will be transferred from Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) to the PCM. This will enable the vehicle to start with new PCM.
  2. If 3 attempts are made to enter SECURED ACCESS MODE by using incorrect PIN, SECURED ACCESS MODE will be locked out for one hour. To exit out of lock out mode, leave ignition key in RUN position for one hour. Ensure all accessories are turned off. Monitor battery state and connect a battery charger if necessary.
