Test NTC-2: Checking Coolant Sensor Calibration
NOTE:
Possible causes are: coolant sensor defective or coolant sensor operation not within specification.
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, read Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor value. If coolant temperature is more than 180°F (82°C), allow engine to cool until 150°F (66°C). Start engine. Using scan tool, observe ECT sensor value. Allow engine to run until coolant temperature is more than 180°F (82°C). If value increase was smooth, go to next step. If value increase was not smooth, inspect cooling system for mechanical failures before replacing ECT sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST FOR NON-OBD II .
- If coolant temperature reached 180°F (82°C) or more, test is complete. If coolant temperature did not reach 180°F (82°C) or more, inspect cooling system for mechanical failures before replacing ECT sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST FOR NON-OBD II .
