Speed Control System

  1. Road test vehicle at more than 30 MPH. Turn speed control on. Depress and release SET switch. If speed control engages, go to next step. If speed control does not engage, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  2. Quickly depress and release RESUME/ACCEL switch. If vehicle speed increases by 2 MPH, go to next step. If vehicle speed did not increase by 2 MPH, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  3. Press and hold COAST switch. Vehicle speed should decrease. If vehicle speed decreases, go to next step. If vehicle speed does not decrease, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  4. Depress and release brake pedal. Speed control should disengage. If speed control disengages, go to next step. If speed control does not disengage, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  5. Bring vehicle speed back up to 25 MPH. Depress RESUME/ACCEL switch. Speed control should resume previously set vehicle speed. If speed control resumed previously set vehicle speed, go to next step. If speed control did not resume previously set vehicle speed, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  6. Press and hold SET switch. Vehicle speed should decrease. If vehicle speed decreases, go to next step. If vehicle speed does not decrease, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  7. With vehicle speed more than 30 MPH and speed control engaged, press and hold SET switch, letting vehicle accelerate to a new speed. Release SET switch. Vehicle should adjust to new vehicle speed. If vehicle speed adjusted to new vehicle speed, go to next step. If vehicle speed did not adjust to new vehicle speed, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  8. Bring vehicle speed to more than 35 MPH and engage speed control. Turn ON/OFF switch to OFF position. Speed control should disengage. If speed control disengages, go to next step. If speed control does not disengage, repair is not complete. Go to step  10 .
  9. Vehicle has successfully passed all tests. Speed control is functioning properly. Repair is complete.
  10. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that pertain to a speed control problem. Return to DTC MESSAGES & CODES  table, if necessary.
