Identifying Door Ajar Problems

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure all doors are closed and properly aligned. Using scan tool, enter BODY SYSTEM, then BODY COMPUTER. Select INPUTS/OUTPUTS. Observe door and decklid ajar switch status. Individually open and close all doors and decklid. Scan tool should display status opposite of actual door position.
  2. If scan tool displays ajar switch status CLOSED when door is closed, perform appropriate SHORTED test. See DOOR AJAR SYMPTOM DIRECTORY  table. If scan tool displays ajar switch status OPEN when door is open, perform appropriate OPEN test. See DOOR AJAR SYMPTOM DIRECTORY  table.
