Inaccurate Fuel Gauge

NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 12A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector C4. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
  2. Using external ohmmeter, measure and record resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue wire) on Blue connector. Add or remove 5 gallons of gas. Measure and record resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance measurements match, repair or replace fuel tank sending unit. If resistance measurements do not match, system is currently operating correctly.
