Parking Brake Warning Light Malfunction
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure that trunk is aligned properly and fully closed. If trunk ajar indicator light is illuminated, go to step 6. If trunk ajar indicator light is not illuminated, go to next step.
- Open trunk. If trunk ajar indicator light is illuminated, system is currently operating correctly. If trunk ajar indicator light is not illuminated, go to next step.
- Disconnect decklid release solenoid/decklid ajar connector. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and 2 (Tan/Black wire) on harness connector. If trunk ajar indicator light is illuminated, replace trunk ajar switch. If trunk ajar indicator light is not illuminated, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster Blue 10-pin connector C2. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 9 (Tan/Black wire) on Blue harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Tan/Black wire.
- Disconnect instrument cluster Green 10-pin connector C1. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Red/White wire) on Green harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red/White wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster.
- Turn ignition on. Disconnect decklid release solenoid/decklid ajar connector. If trunk ajar indicator light is illuminated, go to next step. If trunk ajar indicator light is not illuminated, replace trunk ajar switch.
- Disconnect instrument cluster Blue 10-pin connector C2. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 9 (Tan/Black wire) on Blue harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Black wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace instrument cluster.
