NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition to OFF position. While monitoring odometer, turn ignition to RUN position. If all segments illuminate, go to next step. If all segments do not illuminate, replace instrument cluster.
  2. Using scan tool, select ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 6A in appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, read instrument cluster DTCs. If scan tool displays EATX BUS COMMUNICATION FAILURE, go to TEST 10A in appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display EATX BUS COMMUNICATION FAILURE, odometer is currently functioning correctly.
