Left Seat Heat Output Shorted To Ground

NOTE: Perform MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-4A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect left seat cushion heater 4-pin connector. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If LEFT SEAT HEAT OUTPUT OPEN fault message is present, go to step  4. If LEFT SEAT HEAT OUTPUT OPEN fault message is not present, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect seat back heater 2-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "A" (Red/Dark Green wire) on left seat cushion heater component connector. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, replace seat cushion. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal "A" (Brown/Black wire) on seat back heater component connector. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Brown/Black wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace seat back.
  4. Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "A" (Red/Dark Green wire) on left seat cushion heater harness connector. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Red/Dark Green wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM).
