Inoperative Memory Switch

NOTE: Perform MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-4A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect memory switch connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open ground circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
  2. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Pink/Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to step  5. If voltage is greater than .5 volts, go to next step.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Pink/Red wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 43B . If voltage is greater than .5 volts, go to next step.
  4. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Pink/White wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 43C . If voltage is greater than .5 volts, replace memory switch.
  5. NOTE: Ensure seat frame is connected to ground if seat is unbolted from vehicle.
  6. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) 26-pin harness connector. MHSMM is located under front of seat. See Figure. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (Pink/Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Pink/Black wire) on MHSMM harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Pink/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MHSMM.
