Inoperative Memory Switch
NOTE:
Perform MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-4A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect memory switch connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open ground circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Pink/Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to step 5. If voltage is greater than .5 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Pink/Red wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 43B . If voltage is greater than .5 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Pink/White wire) on memory switch harness connector. If voltage is .5 volts or less, go to MEMORY SYSTEM TEST 43C . If voltage is greater than .5 volts, replace memory switch.
- Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) 26-pin harness connector. MHSMM is located under front of seat. See Figure. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (Pink/Black wire) on memory switch harness connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Pink/Black wire) on MHSMM harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Pink/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MHSMM.
NOTE:
Ensure seat frame is connected to ground if seat is unbolted from vehicle.
