Repairing OTIS Switches
NOTE:
Perform OTIS TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair. Drive vehicle at least 3 miles (greater than 25 MPH) to update OTIS and perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off and leave key in ignition. Open driver's door. If chime sounds, go to next step. If chime does not sound, go to CHIME TEST 5A .
- Turn ignition on and close driver's door. Press each button on OTIS unit and listen for audible beep at Body Control Module (BCM). If beep was heard each time a button is pressed, OTIS is currently operating correctly. If beep was not heard each time a button was pressed, replace OTIS unit.
