Inoperative Horn Chirp

NOTE: Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 11A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure horn operates correctly. Repair as needed. Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, then MISCELLANEOUS. Ensure horn chirp is ENABLED. Using scan tool, actuate horn relay. If horn sounds during actuation, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. If horn does not sound, go to next step.
  2. Remove BCM from junction block. Inspect junction block internal 20-pin connector. Repair as needed. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  3. Connect (momentarily) jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 18 (horn relay control) on junction block internal 20-pin connector. If horn sounds, replace BCM. If horn does not sound, replace junction block.
