Inoperative DECKLID Release
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Ensure no decklid release switch or decklid motor DTCs are present. Disconnect decklid release solenoid connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) on solenoid harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
- Connect test light between terminals No. 1 and 3 (Black/White wire) on solenoid harness connector. Press decklid release switch. If test light illuminates when switch is pressed, replace decklid release motor. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Do not disconnect test light. Disconnect decklid release switch. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Pink wire) on switch harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between decklid release switch terminals. If test light illuminates, replace decklid release switch. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Do not disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray 14-pin connector C1. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) on Gray harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Black/White wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire and test light. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 3 on decklid release solenoid harness connector. Turn ignition off. Remove BCM from junction block. Connect test light between terminals No. 7 and 8 on junction block 20-pin internal connector. If test light illuminates, replace BCM. If test light does not illuminate, repair open Black/White wire (decklid release circuit) between decklid release solenoid and junction block.
