All Doors Fail To Lock/Unlock From Any Switch
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay. If all doors lock, go to next step. If all doors do not lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 2B .
- Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If scan tool displays voltage greater than .2 volts, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 2C . If scan tool displays voltage of .2 volts or less, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. Press door lock switch to LOCK position. If scan tool displays voltage greater than 1.7 volts, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
- Remove right front door trim panel. Disconnect door lock switch connector. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) on door lock harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (White/Light Green wire) on door lock harness connector. If voltage is .3 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than .3 volts, repair White/Light Green wire for short to voltage.
- Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (White/Light Green wire) on door lock harness connector. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair White/Light Green wire for short to ground. If resistance is 100 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 4 on door lock harness connector. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage. If voltage is greater than 1.7 volts with door lock switch pressed, replace front door lock switches. If voltage is 1.7 volts or less with door lock switch pressed, go to next step.
- Do not disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect BCM Blue 16-pin connector C4. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 12 (White/Light Green wire) on Blue connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open White/Light Green wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM.
