Identifying Speed Proportional Steering Problems

  1. Conduct a thorough visual inspection of speed proportional steering system. Check for damaged components or disconnected harness connectors. Repair as needed.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BCM. Read and record all speed proportional steering system DTCs. If any DTCs (fault messages) are present, see SPEED PROPORTIONAL STEERING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table. Proceed to appropriate test. If no DTCs are present, go to TEST 5A.
