Wipers Not Operating
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 5A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Remove jumper wire. Turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal "A" (Red wire) on wiper ON/OFF relay socket. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Install wiper ON/OFF relay. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone 12-pin connector C3. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 4 (Red/White wire) on BCM Bone connector. If wiper motor operates, replace BCM. If wiper motor does not operate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove wiper ON/OFF relay. Do not disconnect jumper wire. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "C" (Red/White wire) on ON/OFF relay socket. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper ON/OFF relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Red/White wire.
