Wipers Not Operating In High Speed Mode

NOTE: Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect wiper HI/LO relay from Power Distribution Center. Remove wiper ON/OFF relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Figure. PDC is located in engine compartment. See Figure.
  2. Turn ignition on. Place wiper switch on low speed position. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal "A" (Red wire) on HI/LO relay socket. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "D" on HI/LO relay socket. If wiper motor operates, go to step  5. If wiper motor does not operate, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Do not disconnect jumper wire. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) on wiper motor harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red/Yellow wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace wiper motor.
  5. Remove jumper wire. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between terminal "B" and "C" on HI/LO relay socket. Place wiper switch in high position. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, replace wiper HI/LO relay.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone 12-pin connector C3. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 12 (Violet wire) on BCM Bone connector. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "C" (Violet wire) on HI/LO relay socket. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Violet wire.
  7. Disconnect BCM Black 24-pin connector C2. Turn ignition on. Place wiper switch on high speed position. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 8 (Dark Green/Red wire) on BCM Black harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace multifunction switch. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM.
