Wipers Not Operating In Low Speed Mode

NOTE: Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect wiper HI/LO relay from Power Distribution Center. See Figure. PDC is located in engine compartment. See Figure.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Turn wiper switch to LOW speed position. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal "A" (Red wire) on HI/LO relay socket. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair Red wire for short to ground. If resistance is 100 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Connect jumper wire between terminals "B" and "E" on HI/LO relay socket. Turn ignition on. If wiper motor operates in low speed, replace HI/LO wiper relay. If wiper motor does not operate in low speed, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Do not disconnect jumper wire. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Brown/White wire) on wiper motor harness connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/White wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace wiper motor.
