Removal & Installation (Neon)

  1. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located on driver's side front corner of engine compartment, below air cleaner. See Fig 5.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner lid and air filter element. Disconnect electrical connector at throttle body and loosen clamp on throttle body outlet hose. Remove 4 bolts attaching air cleaner to throttle body and remove air cleaner.
  3. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove harness clip bracket from PCM bracket. Remove upper PCM bracket bolts. Raise and support vehicle. Remove lower PCM bracket bolts. Remove PCM from vehicle. To separate PCM from PCM bracket, remove 4 screws.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Program PCM as necessary. See PCM PROGRAMMING .
