Body Control Modules: Description
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) multiplex system. Through the PCI bus, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are accessed through a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)) scan tool or generic scan tool. DLC is located on left side of steering column, above brake pedal.
Modules that are connected to the PCI bus are as follows:
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Memory Heat Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM)
- Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM)
- Transmission Control Module (TCM)
- Electro/Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC)
- Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS)
- Air Bag Control Module (ACM)
- Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module
- Radio
- Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) Display Head
- Body Control Module (BCM)
