Chime Sounds With Seat Belt Fastened

  1. Turn ignition off. Fasten driver's seat belt. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor seat belt switch status. If CLOSED is displayed, go to next step. If CLOSED is not displayed, replace Body Control Module (BCM).
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect seat belt switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor seat belt switch status. If CLOSED is displayed, go to next step. If CLOSED is not displayed, replace seat belt switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM harness connector C4. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 15 (Light Green/Red wire) at BCM harness connector C4. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire between seat belt switch and BCM.
