Fog Lights Will Not Turn On
NOTE:
Ensure headlights operate properly before performing the following test procedure.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check headlight switch voltage. If approximately 3 volts is displayed, go to next step. If approximately 3 volts is not displayed, replace headlight switch.
- Using scan tool, activate fog light relay. If relay clicks, go to next step. If relay does not click, go to step 5 .
- Remove fog light relay from junction block. Measure voltage at terminal No. 66 at fog light relay socket on junction block. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace junction block.
- Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals No. 66 and 67 at fog light relay socket on junction block. If fog lights illuminate, replace fog light relay. If fog lights do not illuminate, repair open in Light Blue wire between fog light relay and fog lights.
- Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 16 (20-amp) in junction block. See Figure . If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 7 .
- Remove fog light relay from junction block. Check for short to ground in Light Blue wire between fog light relay, fog lights and headlight switch. If problem does not exist, replace fuse. If problem exists, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
- Turn ignition off. Remove fog light relay from junction block. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between terminal No. 64 at fog light relay socket on junction block and terminal No. 17 at BCM connector on back of junction block. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block.
- Connect BCM to back of junction block. Connect a test light between positive battery voltage and terminal No. 64 at fog light relay socket on junction block. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, activate fog light relay. If test light illuminates, replace fog light relay. If fog light relay does not illuminate, replace BCM.
