Low Beam Headlights Will Not Turn On
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn low beams on. Ensure fog lights are off. Using scan tool, check headlight switch voltage. If 1.4-1.8 volts is displayed, go to next step. If 1.4-1.8 volts is not displayed, replace headlight switch.
- Using scan tool, activate low beam relay. If low beam relay clicks, go to next step. If low beam relay does not click, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove low beam relay from junction block. Measure voltage at terminal No. 62 at low beam relay socket on junction block. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace junction block.
- Ensure fuses No. 10 (10-amp) and No. 12 (10-amp) in junction block are okay. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals No. 62 and 63 at low beam relay socket on junction block. If low beams illuminate, replace low beam relay. If low beams do not illuminate, repair open in wiring between junction block and headlights.
- Turn ignition off. Remove low beam relay from junction block. Measure voltage at terminal No. 61 at low beam relay socket on junction block. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 8 .
- Connect at test light between terminals No. 60 and 61 at low beam relay socket on junction block. Using scan tool, activate low beam relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace low beam relay.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between terminal No. 60 at low beam relay socket on junction block and terminal No. 14 at BCM connector on back of junction block. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM.
- Check fuse "D" in power distribution center. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Red wire between junction block and power distribution center. If fuse is okay, repair open in Light Blue/Red wire between junction block and power distribution center.
