Decklid Ajar Indicator Not Operating
- Ensure decklid is properly aligned and completely closed. Turn ignition on. If decklid ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If decklid ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. If decklid ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If decklid ajar indicator does not illuminate, replace decklid release solenoid/ajar switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C2. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 9 (Tan/Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C2. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire between instrument cluster and decklid release solenoid/ajar switch.
- Open decklid. If decklid ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If decklid ajar indicator illuminates, problem is intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, ground terminal No. 2 (Tan/Black wire) at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. If decklid ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If decklid ajar indicator illuminates, replace decklid release solenoid/ajar switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C2. Measure resistance in Tan/Black wire between terminal No. 2 at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector and terminal No. 9 at instrument cluster harness connector C2. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Black wire between instrument cluster and decklid release solenoid/ajar switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C1. Measure voltage at terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C2. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
