Door Ajar Indicator Not Operating Properly

  1. Turn ignition off. Close all doors. Turn ignition on and observe door ajar indicator. If door ajar indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, replace instrument cluster.
  2. If door ajar indicator is always illuminated, go to next step. If door ajar indicator is not always illuminated, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays OPEN, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool does not display OPEN, repair interior lights as necessary. Perform appropriate test under INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEMS  .
  4. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Open all doors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, repair interior lights as necessary. Perform appropriate test under INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEMS  .
  5. If door ajar indicator is illuminated, problem is intermittent. If door ajar indicator is not illuminated, replace instrument cluster.
