Engine Coolant Temperature Indicator Not Operating Properly

  1. Start engine and let idle until normal operating temperature is achieved. If temperature gauge is operating properly, go to next step. If temperature gauge is not operating properly, repair temperature gauge as necessary. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on and observe engine coolant temperature indicator. If engine coolant temperature indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, problem is intermittent. If engine coolant temperature indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, replace instrument cluster.
