Courtesy Lights Stay On At All Times

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition off. Close all doors. Using scan tool, check driver's door ajar switch status. If OPEN is displayed, go to next step. If OPEN is not displayed, go to step  7 .
  2. Using scan tool, check door ajar switch status. If OPEN is displayed, go to next step. If OPEN is not displayed, go to step  5 .
  3. Ensure courtesy light switches are off. Disconnect junction block harness connector C11. See Figure . Close all doors. If door courtesy lights do not go out, go to next step. If door courtesy lights go out, repair short to ground in Yellow wire between junction block and overhead console.
  4. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. If courtesy lights do not go out, repair short to ground in Yellow wire between junction block and courtesy lights. If courtesy lights go out, replace BCM.
  5. Using scan tool, check door ajar switch status while disconnecting each door lock motor/ajar switch harness connector except driver's door. If scan tool display did not change when all harness connectors were disconnected, go to next step. If scan tool display changed when a harness connector was disconnected, replace appropriate door lock motor/ajar switch.
  6. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C4. Measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 1, 2 and 10 (all Tan/Red wire) at BCM harness connector C4. See Figure . If all resistances are greater than 1000 ohms, replace BCM. If any resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire between BCM and appropriate door lock motor/ajar switch.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver's door lock motor/ajar switch harness connector. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C4. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at BCM harness connector C4. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan wire between BCM and driver's door lock motor/ajar switch.
  8. Connect driver's door lock motor/ajar switch harness connector. Close driver's door. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan wire) at BCM harness connector C4. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace driver's door lock motor/ajar switch.
