Ambient Temperature Sensor Failure (Otis Displaying "SC" Or "OC")
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check ambient temperature voltage. If .2 volt or less is displayed, go to next step. If greater than .2 volt is displayed, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check ambient temperature voltage. If approximately 5 volts is not displayed, go to next step. If approximately 5 volts is displayed, replace ambient temperature sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) at BCM harness connector C3. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 50 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 50 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire between ambient temperature sensor and BCM.
- Measure resistance in Violet/Light Green wire between terminal No. 1 at ambient temperature sensor harness connector and terminal No. 5 at BCM harness connector C3. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire between ambient temperature sensor and BCM.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check ambient temperature voltage. If greater than 5.3 volts is displayed, go to next step. If 5.3 volts or less is displayed, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C3. Measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) at BCM harness connector C3. See Figure . If voltage is 5.3 volts or less, replace BCM. If voltage is greater than 5.3 volts, repair short to voltage in Violet/Light Green wire between ambient temperature sensor and BCM.
- Turn ignition off. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals No. 1 (Violet/Light Green wire) and No. 2 (Dark Blue/Gray wire) at ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check ambient temperature voltage. If greater than .2 volt is displayed, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If .2 volt or less is displayed, replace ambient temperature sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C3. Measure resistance in Violet/Light Green wire between terminal No. 1 at ambient temperature sensor harness connector and terminal No. 5 at BCM harness connector C3. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire between ambient temperature sensor and BCM.
- Measure resistance in Dark Blue/Gray wire between terminal No. 2 at ambient temperature sensor harness connector and terminal No. 10 at BCM harness connector C3. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Blue/Gray wire between ambient temperature sensor and BCM.
