Decklid Release Switch Failure

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Press decklid release switch several times. Using scan tool, retrieve BCM DTCs. If this DTC resets, go to next step. If this DTC does not reset, problem is intermittent.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect decklid release switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Cycle ignition switch off, then on. Wait 30 seconds. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If this DTC resets, go to next step. If this DTC does not reset, replace decklid release switch.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) at decklid release switch harness connector. If no voltage exists, replace BCM. If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Black/White wire between decklid release switch and BCM.
