VTSS Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect sun sensor/VTSS indicator harness connector. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) at sun sensor/VTSS indicator harness connector. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 1 (Pink wire) and 2 (Black/Orange wire) at sun sensor/VTSS indicator harness connector. Using scan tool, activate VTSS light. If voltage does not pulse between 2-10 volts, go to next step. If voltage pulses between 2-10 volts, replace sun sensor/VTSS indicator.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C2. Measure resistance in Black/Orange wire between terminal No. 2 at sun sensor/VTSS indicator harness connector and terminal No. 23 at BCM harness connector C2. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire between sun sensor/VTSS indicator and BCM.
