Description & Operation

All models use an unequal length axle shaft system. The unequal length system has a short solid axle shaft on the left side, with a longer solid axle shaft on the right. See Fig 1 .

Axle shaft assemblies are 3 piece units. Each axle shaft has a tripod joint, an interconnecting shaft, and an outer CV joint assembly. The tripod joint is splined onto the axle shaft. The outer CV joint assembly consists of an axle shaft, vibration damper, CV joint/boot and stub shaft. On models equipped with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), outer CV joint is equipped with an ABS speed sensor tone wheel (exciter ring). The outer CV joint stub shaft is splined into front wheel hub and bearing assembly. See Fig 2 .

Inner boots are made of different materials, and are not interchangeable. The left inner boot is made of high temperature application silicone. Right inner boot is made of Hytrel plastic.
