Avenger & Sebring Coupe

  1. Start engine and warm engine until coolant temperature is 176-203°F (80-95°C). Shut engine off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, near steering column. See Fig 1 . Scan tool is used to read engine RPM.
  2. Start engine and allow engine to idle for at least 2 minutes. Ensure all accessories are off and transaxle is in Park. Ensure idle speed is 650-850 RPM.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. If idle speed is within specification, remove scan tool. If idle speed is not within specification, go to next step.
  4. PCM controls Idle Air Control (IAC) motor for proper idle speed. See DTC TEST NO. 13: IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUITS under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - AVENGER & SEBRING COUPE article for diagnosis of incorrect IAC motor operation. Remove scan tool.
