High Beam Headlights Will Not Turn Off

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Remove high beam relay in junction block. See Figure and Figure . If high beams turn off, leave high beam relay removed and go to next step. If high beams do not turn off, repair short to voltage in high beam relay output circuit between high beam relay and headlights.
  2. Measure voltage on high beam relay connector terminal No. 57, high beam relay control circuit. If voltage is more than one volt, leave high beam relay removed and go to next step. If voltage is one volt or less, replace high beam relay.
  3. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Measure voltage on high beam relay connector terminal No. 57, high beam relay control circuit. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in high beam relay control circuit between multifunction switch and high beam relay. If voltage is one volt or less, replace multifunction switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
