Sun Load Sensor Failure

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: With the ignition on.
  2. Set Condition: The BCM detects an abnormally low voltage on the sun sensor signal.

Possible Causes:

Testing

    NOTE: It is advisable to perform the ATC System Test before attempting to diagnose this trouble code. See ATC System Test  .
  1. Disconnect the sun sensor/VTSS LED harness connector. See Figure . With the scan tool, read the sun sensor voltage. If the voltage is .2 volt or less, go to next step. If the voltage is .2 volt or more, replace the sun sensor. See SUN SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Disconnect the BCM C1 & C2 harness connectors. See Figure and Figure . Measure the resistance between ground and the sun sensor signal circuit. If the resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair the sun sensor signal circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is 100 ohms or more, go to next step.
  3. Measure the resistance between the sun sensor circuit and the sensor ground circuit at the sun sensor connector. If the resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair the sun sensor signal circuit for a short to the sensor ground circuit. If the resistance is 100 ohms or more replace the BCM.
