Cruise On Indicator Not Operating Properly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. To start bulb check, turn ignition off, then on. Observe cruise on indicator. If cruise on indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, go to next step. If cruise on indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, go to step  4 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs. If no PCM DTCs exist, go to next step. If any PCM DTCs exist, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  3. Test drive vehicle and operate cruise control. If cruise control operates properly, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If cruise control does not operate properly, see CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool communicates with PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with PCM, perform NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS)  test under COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.
  5. Turn ignition off. Inspect cruise on indicator bulb and socket. Repair or replace indicator bulb and/or socket as necessary. If bulb and socket are okay, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
