Memory Set "S" Position Stuck

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform MEMORY HEATED SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: Ignition on.
  2. Set Condition: If the switch is active for 30 seconds the MHSMM will ignore the input until the state has changed. Once the stuck position is removed the seat will return to normal operation. The code will remain in memory for 20 ignition cycles.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect memory set switch connector. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read MEM SET SW status. If scan tool does not display OPEN, leave memory set switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If scan tool displays OPEN, replace memory set switch. See POWER SEATS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C1. Measure resistance between ground and memory set switch connector terminal No. 5, memory set switch sense circuit switch sense circuit (Pink/Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Black wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
