Odometer Not Operating Properly

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC). If communication was established, go to next step. If communication was not established, repair communication concern. See MIC MESSAGE NOT RECEIVED  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  2. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Transmission Control Module (TCM). If communication was established, go to next step. If communication was not established, repair communication concern. See NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  3. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on while observing odometer segments. If all odometer segments illuminate, problem is intermittent. If all odometer segments do not illuminate, replace instrument cluster.
