Parking Lights Will Not Turn On

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn parking lights on. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check headlight switch voltage. If approximately .5 volt is displayed, go to next step. If approximately .5 volt is not displayed, replace headlight switch.
  2. Using scan tool, activate parking light relay. If parking light relay clicks, go to next step. If parking light relay does not click, go to step  5 .
  3. Remove parking light relay from junction block. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals No. 54 and 55 at parking light relay socket on junction block. See Figure . If parking lights illuminate, go to next step. If parking lights do not illuminate, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between junction block and parking lights.
  4. Measure voltage at terminal No. 54 at parking light relay socket on junction block. If battery voltage exists, replace parking light relay. If battery voltage does not exist, replace junction block.
  5. Remove parking light relay. Measure voltage at terminal No. 53 at parking light relay socket on junction block. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  8 .
  6. Connect a test light between terminals No. 52 and 53 at parking light relay socket on junction block. Using scan tool, activate parking light relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace parking light relay.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between terminal No. 52 at parking light relay socket on junction block and terminal No. 16 at BCM connector on back or junction block. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block.
  8. Check fuse No. 7 (20-amp) in junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, repair open or short in Pink/White wire between power distribution center and junction block.
  9. Remove fuse No. 7 from junction block. Measure resistance between ground and output side of fuse No. 7. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace junction block.
  10. Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block harness connectors C7 and C10. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 55 at parking light relay socket on junction block. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire between junction block and parking lights.
  11. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 55 at parking light relay socket on junction block. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace junction block. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
