Body Control Modules: Description
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit. Through the PCI bus circuit, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are accessed through a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII®) scan tool or generic scan tool.
Modules connected to the DLC via the PCI bus circuit are as follows:
- Air Bag Control Module (ACM)
- Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) Module
- Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) Module
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module
- Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM)
