Powertrain Control Module (Pcm)
NOTE:
Programming procedures requiring use of a scan tool are written specifically for Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII®) scan tool. Other scan tools may not be capable of performing all necessary functions.
NOTE:
If PCM is replaced, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into the PCM to prevent DTCs from being set in Air Bag Control Module (ACM) and Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module.
- Obtain vehicle's unique PIN assigned to SKIM from vehicle owner or manufacturer. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, enter correct VIN and mileage into PCM. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs from ABS CAB module and ACM. Using scan tool, select BODY, THEFT ALARM, then SKIM. Place SKIM in secured access mode by entering 4-digit PIN. Using scan tool, select UPDATE TRANSFER KEY DATA. Secret key data will transfer from SKIM to PCM. Go to next step.
- Attempt to start vehicle. If vehicle starts and stays running and customer's complaint cannot be duplicated, system is operating correctly and repair is complete. If vehicle does not start or stay running, repair by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES - GASOLINE article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
