Foglight Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
  1. Turn foglights on. If foglights are inoperative, repair as necessary. If foglights operate, turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Instrument cluster connector is a 26-pin Black connector, located behind left upper instrument panel. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector terminal No. 4, foglight switch output circuit (Light Blue wire). See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts, leave instrument cluster connector disconnected and go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Light Blue wire.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - NEON article. Remove foglight, Light Emitting Diode (LED) from instrument cluster. Using a DVOM, select DIODE mode. Connect DVOM Black lead to LED negative (-) terminal. Connect DVOM Red lead to LED positive (+) terminal. If LED illuminates, replace instrument cluster. If LED does not illuminate, replace defective LED.
