Test NTC-7: Checking Inlet Air Temperature Sensor
NOTE:
When performing this test, DO NOT allow more than 5 minutes between measuring temperature of Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor with scan tool and measuring the air temperature on inside of air box with temperature probe.
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool in SENSORS mode, read INLET AIR TMP DEG and record. Turn ignition off. Remove IAT sensor. IAT sensor is located in air box, next to inner fender panel. Using temperature probe, quickly check air temperature on inside of air box. If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is within 10 degrees of temperature obtained on temperature probe, go to next step. If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is not within 10 degrees of temperature obtained on temperature probe, replace IAT sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A .
- Turn ignition off. Visually inspect wiring and connectors between IAT sensor and PCM. Inspect related wiring harnesses and connectors. Refer to Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for related problems. If no problems exist, test is complete. If any problems exist, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A .
