Fuel Pressure Release
CAUTION:
Fuel system is under high pressure. Release fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel lines or fuel system components.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel tank filler cap from fuel tank to release any pressure from fuel tank.
- Remove protective cap from fuel pressure test port located at center of fuel rail. Place end of Hose (C-4799-1) into an approved fuel container. Attach remaining end of hose at fuel pressure test port on fuel rail. Use care, as fuel system is under pressure. Fuel pressure will be released from fuel system into fuel container. Fuel system components may now be serviced. Remove hose, reinstall protective cap, fuel tank filler cap and negative battery cable once fuel system components are serviced.
