Test NTC-26: Fuel Pump System
- Ensure ignition is off. Remove fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay is located on firewall at left rear corner of engine compartment. Figure. Using a jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal No. 2 (Black/Blue wire) at fuel pump relay harness connector. See Figure. Listen for fuel pump operation. Fuel pump is located in fuel tank. If fuel pump operates, go to next step. If fuel pump does not operate, check fuel pump circuits. See TEST NTC-38: FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT .
- Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 and 6 at fuel pump relay. See Figure. Resistance should be 35-75 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel pump relay.
- Check continuity between terminals No. 2 and 8 at fuel pump relay. Continuity should not exist. Apply battery voltage between terminals No. 4 and 6 at fuel pump relay. Continuity should now exist between terminals No. 2 and 8. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace fuel pump relay.
- Check fuel pump drive control circuit. See TEST NTC-39: FUEL PUMP DRIVE CONTROL CIRCUIT . Repair as necessary and recheck system operation.
