Intermittent Malfunction
This procedure applies if you have been sent here from a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) test or No Trouble Code (NTC) test. The following checks may assist in identifying a possible intermittent problem:
- Consult customer on nature of the problem and condition at which the problem exists.
- Visually inspect related wiring harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Visually inspect related wiring harness for chafed, pierced or partially broken wires.
- Attempt to duplicate conditions when the problem occurs, such as temperature or moisture conditions.
- Wiggle wiring harness and connectors in several directions to attempt to find defective condition in wiring or connectors.
- Check actuation, inputs, outputs and sensor operation for malfunctioning system using scan tool. See ACTUATION, INPUTS, OUTPUTS & SENSOR READ TESTS .
