DTC P0601: Internal Controller Failure

NOTE: Internal controller operation is monitored when ignition is on. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when an internal checksum for software failed and does not match the calculated value. Possible causes are a defective PCM. If PCM is replaced, PCM must be properly programmed. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING.

Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P0601: INTERNAL CONTROLLER FAILURE does not exist, test is complete. If DTC P0601: INTERNAL CONTROLLER FAILURE exists, replace PCM. PCM is located at driver's side front corner of engine compartment, just below air cleaner assembly. Perform TEST VER-2A  .
